Screen Less Challenge Day 1
What's Happening on Day 1
It's not all or nothing!
You know when you wanted to fight with your siblings! Usually when they take something away from you.
Well, imagine you become the annoying sibling when you try to remove screen time from your emotionally invested autism child. Kicking you in areas that don't feel great, spitting in your mouth with screaming scenarios. This is how your child feels when you remove "screens" aka the new favorite toy that never gets boring.
Awareness is always the first step!
Today take the time to print out the screen time awareness sheet and fill out all the times your child used screens today. This is not to judge.
It's to become intentional about using screens only in the times that benefit EVERYONE.
You should also print up this sheet for you. Leading by example is extremely important.
Tomorrow we are gonna dive a little deeper into how we are going to become intentional with screen time and choosing where to bring it in.
One piece of extra advice to parents. It's better to have set times of the day for consistent screens.
If you ask yourself the solution to outbursts when removing the screens. I'm sure you can see that one is not having to remove them all the time and choose 1 to 2 daily battles rather than 5 or 6.
See you tomorrow...
