Screen Less Challenge Day 3

What's Happening on Day 3

So what will you do during the "no screen time" period?

Well, I specifically chose spring here in the northern hemisphere to bring your children outside and to use nature as the healer she is.

Oxygen from the trees (less inflammation anyone?), and aromatic compounds from the flowers and roots will create information processes in the limbic system that are so valuable to self-regulation, clarity & grounding.

Whether it's in your backyard for 10-30 minutes or a walk in the forest should you be lucky enough to live near one. Or a park filled with sand. Find the most lush natural environment possible and immerse yourselves in it.

As a parent, this is also a healing time for you. Slow down in these moments, everything will still be at your home when you get back. Be in the moment with your child and build a strong safe connection.

Nature is a teacher and multi-way healer.

Towards the beginning this will feel strange and your brain will freak out and tell you all the reasons you shouldn't do it. This is a normal part of beginning a new habit.

Anything deemed new is usually seen as unsafe to the brain. It's also one of the reasons that autism thrives in routine. It's a safety and expectancy routine.

When we create habits it does not require brain decision making. Habits are found in a completely different part of the brain.

Bet you didn't know that. It's well explained in the power of habits. A great book I recommend anyone read.

Today is the day!

You've got this mama.
